Barbar - Chelsea Boots in Black Leather / Black Outsole

Run-around boot done radical with pull on comfort and winter warmth of supple black leather, made sport-luxe sharp with the contrast of our signature exaggerated trainer outsole. We love the proportions of this boot which slim the ankle and define the foot in a really sophisticated way. 

One of the best things about working with our maker Mipiaci is that we have been able to access a different array of lasts and outsole constructions. A toe capped Chelsea pull-on boot captures an essence of both easy wearability mixed with a cool athletic inspired twist. At once both classic and unique and set to become a new signature to Radical Yes. 

The upper pattern took a number of rounds of development and has been carefully considered to include details like a leather pull tab through the heel and elasticised side gussets for easy pull on comfort. The carefully executed upper pattern has minimal stitch lines for a purely modern look. The clean lines of the upper make it a very versatile, very wearable shoe.

The stretch added by the elasticised gussets makes it suitable for both narrow and wide. The boot will sit snuggly over the foot no matter the shape in it. The throat is intentionally cut narrow so you should open it up and pull it on like a sock. Features removable innersole so you can change them over to your own orthotic easily if you need to. This is a leather upper / lined product so like all leather shoes will have around 8 - 10% stretch on wearing depending on the amount of pressure applied to the upper.

Black leather upper contrasted with super modern gum toe cap sole. Keeping the mood modern, the upper has a slightly buffed finish, edged with black grosgrain pull tabs. The big story though is the carefully selected Gum colour which adds a more relaxed, Japanese workwear vibe that we love. Light coloured leather lining for extra warmth and durability. The handle and grain on this material is soft to touch and lovely to wear, and will keep your feet dry and cosy through those long winter days!

Toss on for a day of errands in your overalls on a Saturday, or mindfully merge with a fitted denim utility suit for a Thursday night dinner date.

We love playing up the architectural qualities of this shoe with workwear inspired pin tuck pants and man-style shirts for the studio. We also LOVE these shoes with dresses, especially contrasting long line satin and floaty shapes with the heaviness of this outsole.

As always it's about the juxtaposition of something quite feminine up top to play up to the more masculine lines of this shoe. Radical and Yes!

This is high quality leather upper so it does need care. 

Leather is a wonderful material, breathable, durable and beautiful. But without a bit of love it can dry out and deteriorate.

For optimum care, we recommend and sell "Waproo Waterproofer" to protect them from unexpected showers. We recommend spraying monthly on the Full Moon and can send you a reminder if you sign up to our newsletter here.

Polish your leather shoes around once a month and clean when necessary with a leather conditioner and soft rag to remove any dirt accumulated on your travels.

For extra special treatment, polishing can help renew shoes that have developed scratches or other signs of regular wear. Wax and cream polishes available from a local shoe repairer will breath new life into your beloved toe tappers. Once your newly polished shoes have dried you can re-apply a waterproof spray for extra protection.
