If you saw our IG story about this style, you will know this is a late comer to our S20 collection. Here's the story behind the shoes. For more than 18 months we have been wanting to add a retro inspired trainer to our mix of active shoes. We have sampled 2 different styles in the past, but whilst we could execute the upper pattern to all kinds of retro-perfection, we had a lot of trouble sourcing the outsole we wanted to make them feel authentically retro. After a long search, 'Cloud' Trainers were finally realised when our maker sourced the saw-tooth sole edge you can see here on these beauties.
The silhouette has been designed to inspire joy, positivity and a new point of view. From the exaggerated 'R.Yes' branding details set into the heel tab (a 'happy accident' that occurred in the development process), through to the use of the intentionally irregular printing of our 'Hasten Slowly' message in gold foil print at the side - all set as a reminder to embrace the unexpected, the asymmetric and challenge habitual thinking. This is Radical Yes.
Classic bold retro 70s Parrot Red at side edge and lace facings. Contrasted with soft dusty pink nylon throughout the upper with self stitch foam padding detail. Finished with monochromatic bold red leather heel panel as a gentle textural accent complete with gold foil R.Yes lettering. Contrast white leather lining and white laces with silver metal clasps at ends to prevent fraying.
At their most obvious, the bold red in these trainers is crying out for vintage denim and athletic tee's. But for new ideas - consider matching with modern cream suits and roll cuffed blazers for a Susan Sarandon meets Farrah Fawcett mash up. Also perfect summer friends as the mood elevating accent with all white outfits too. Think long line vintage tee dresses with a tied at the waist jacket, for ironic dressed down femme twists.
Made responsibly in China in small batch quantities by our boutique manufacturing partner. Learn more about our maker and see the full behind-the-scenes from our makers workshop here.
Leather is a wonderful material, breathable, durable and beautiful. But without a bit of love it can dry out and deteriorate.
For optimum care, we recommend and sell "Waproo Waterproofer" to protect them from unexpected showers. We recommend spraying monthly on the Full Moon and can send you a reminder if you sign up to our newsletter here.
Polish your leather shoes around once a month and clean when necessary with a leather conditioner and soft rag to remove any dirt accumulated on your travels.
For extra special treatment, polishing can help renew shoes that have developed scratches or other signs of regular wear. Wax and cream polishes available from a local shoe repairer will breath new life into your beloved toe tappers. Once your newly polished shoes have dried you can re-apply a waterproof spray for extra protection.
