RADICAL THINKING // 'To Invent on The Spot' Art meets Dance
First shown as a performance piece in 1972, the work consists of a large canvas loosely covered in brush strokes of pink paint and lines of sheet music drawn from Igor Stravinsky's score for the ballet 'Pulcinella'.
In the performance the violinist repeats the music depicted on the canvas whilst the ballerina dances in front of the painting improvising her choreography during the first cycle of music and then repeating her movements each time the music starts again. Move and be moved. Something we think is truly radical YES!
Seen here a performance of the piece at the Monnaie de Paris last month in Paris.
